Observed him from a distance as a fine, quiet dude back in anatomy days. Then came the "Shodeinde" saga and new cliques emerged... During an ABH five-aside match, this conversation occurred: Lummie: FD, I need to join a more active discussion group... Can u recommend one..? FD: Let's start one nah... I'm looking for one too... Lummie: Nooo! U don't have re-sit to write. I need someone who has. FD (looking surprised): Olumide...I got 0-2. Lummie: (Stunned for abt 5 secs, burst into peels of laughter for almost 5 mins, then stopped, looked at me and burst into another peel...):U mean u failed the exams? So u can fail? FD (Surprised): What's so funny...? Lummie: This Shodeinde bad o! I'm so sorry!! But u walk around like someone without problems...(Laughed again, and of course I had since joined him in the laughter). FD: So can we start one?... Suffice to say we started the group (though it didn't last long)and passed in the end, and remained friends. I learnt: "A true friend can laugh at your misfortune, make u see the humor behind it, and still help you believe in yourself..... "

Border boy with a difference. We met in I.S.I and you were clearly a cut above the rest in a school notorious for its border boys antics. A born again christian at a time when it was very unfashionable to be one in I.S.I...it just wasn't cool, but you never danced to herd rhythm. Then our paths crossed again in Med. school, and you had matured into a quiet yet confident chap. You had an ease about you. Lummie and I were never really close friends, but I had a certain respect for him. He was from good stock but you could never tell. When I remember Olumide, I remember Yewande, Dami Bamiro, Patrick Akhionbare and Yinka Afolabi-Brown. My thoughts are with you guys and his sisters. I remember with joy!
